According to a press statement released on Tuesday, the first introductory meeting of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KP-EZDMC) with the Special Assistant to the Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Industries, Commerce, and Technical Education (IC&TE), Abdul Karim Tordhir, was held at the company’s headquarters in Hayatabad, Peshawar.
During the meeting, the special assistant received a detailed briefing on the measures taken for industrialisation, the company’s performance, and its future goals. The CEO of the company, Javed Iqbal Khattak, along with managers of relevant sections and other officials, attended the meeting.
The special assistant was informed that currently, 10 economic zones and two Special Economic Zones (SEZs) have been established in the province, with the establishment of four new economic zones and one SEZ under consideration. The establishment of Ghazi Economic Zone has been completed, while the Mansehra Economic Zone is also ready for commercial launch.
Additionally, it was mentioned that residential apartments are under construction at Hattar Economic Zone, and electricity has been provided to Hattar Special Economic Zone. Commercial areas are being developed at Gadoon, and 19 units have been allotted in the Rashakai Special Economic Zone established under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor.
Moreover, the expansion of Nowshera Economic Zone has been completed, and in terms of exports, the performance of Export Promotion Zone Risalpur is notable, with the largest matchbox manufacturing plant in the world having set up its operations there. The construction work of Chitral Economic Zone has also been completed, while the complete handover of land to start the construction work of Marble City Buner is pending.
