Lahore: Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert due to torrential rains and hailstorm across Punjab.
According to the spokesman PDMA, the series of stormy rains with thunder in Punjab will continue till April 29, during which there is also a possibility of hailstorm in different areas.
The Meteorological Department has predicted heavy rains in South Punjab from April 26 to 28. After which rains have continued intermittently in different areas of Punjab since today.
More rain is expected in Murree, Guliyat, Rawalpindi, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Hafizabad, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh areas of Punjab. Rains will continue in Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Pakpattan and Sahiwal for the next two days.

DG PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia said that according to the instructions of the Punjab Chief Minister, the district administration has been alerted. The Department of Health, Irrigation, Construction and Communications, Local Government and Livestock issued an alert.
He said that information department WASA, Punjab Police and Civil Defense have also been issued an alert in view of the weather situation. The administration has been directed to ensure drainage in low-lying areas.
Irfan Ali Kathia said that citizens should be careful during rains. Stay away from electric poles and hanging wires. Stay in safe places to avoid lightning. Avoid going under the open sky during thunderstorms and stormy conditions.
