According to Page Six, a letter from Ye’s chief of staff, Milo Yiannopoulos, highlights his status as a global icon and emphasizes the legal nature of the name change.
The letter was addressed to major players in the music industry, including streaming services, publishers, and lyric websites.
Ye is not the first artist to adopt a new moniker within the music world with past examples such as Diddy, Snoop Dogg, Prince, Bow Wow, and Ke$ha.
